Eco-friendliness is becoming an increasingly important factor in many people's decision-making processes when it comes to the way in which we choose to live our lives. We are aiming to make your stay at Flag Cottage as sustainable and eco-friendly as possible.

We have now installed an 7KW Electric Vehicle Charging Point (EVCP) at Flag Cottage. Guests can charge their electric or hybrid cars whilst staying with a dedicated Type 2 EVCP. So whilst you are staying at the cottage, you can recharge your car ready to go out and about exploring the Yorkshire Dales.

This EVCP is not available for public use, there are two EVCP’s at the 3 National Park car parks at Aysgarth Falls, Grassington and Hawes.

We want our guests to be cosy during their stay, but it shouldn’t be too hot to wear a jumper during the winter, please use the central heating and log burner wisely and efficiently. Flag cottage is metered so helping to monitor and reduce water usage.

Whatever you do at home, whether you reuse or recycle much of your household waste, we hope to match that ethic in your holiday property. Flag Cottage has recycling bins for paper, cans, plastic and bottles immediately outside the back door.

From reusable and refillable products to compostable products, there’s an emerging market of eco products out there offering environmentally friendly solutions to a variety of household needs. We have been providing 100% bamboo toilet paper for some time and the company donates 50% of their profits to help build toilets and improve sanitation in the developing world. In addition, we are making available eco-alternatives for washing up, laundry, dishwashing and toiletries, please try them. Our luxurious down-like feel duvets are of Dacron Comforel Eco filling made in Germany from recycled materials.

Many people already have their own canvas bags that they store in their cars or carry around, but should you not have them available we provide reusable eco-conscious bags hanging in the kitchen. We also supply refillable water bottles in the kitchen offering the option of taking tap water instead of buying plastic bottles while you are out. We provide quality Tupperware so guests can pack picnics to take with them on days out.
